VUB Intermediate Computer Skills - Week 1
One you check regularly — this is where verification codes will be sent
For two-factor authentication (adds extra security to your account)
Driver's license, state ID, or passport — you may need to take a photo of it
For identity verification purposes
For video verification if needed — not always required
Type va.gov directly into your browser's address bar. Don't use a search engine.
Look for the blue "Sign In" button in the top right corner of the page.
ID.me is the secure service the VA uses to verify your identity. Click this option.
Use a strong password: at least 8 characters with letters, numbers, and symbols.
Check your email for a verification code. Enter it on the website to continue.
Enter your phone number. You'll receive a code by text message each time you log in.
Follow the prompts to confirm who you are (see ID.me options below).
Once verified, you can access all VA online services with your new account.
ID.me needs to verify you are who you say you are. There are several ways to do this:
Can't verify identity? Try the video call option — a real person can help.
Forgot your password? Click "Forgot password" on the login page to reset it.
Not receiving codes? Check your spam folder or try the phone call option instead of text.
