💬 How to Send a Secure Message

📨 Step-by-Step: Messaging Your Doctor

  1. Log in to myhealth.va.gov using your VA.gov account
  2. Click on "Messages" in the top menu (or look for the envelope icon)
  3. Click "Compose Message" or "Start a New Message"
  4. Select your care team or provider from the dropdown menu
  5. Choose a category (General Question, Medication, Appointment, etc.)
  6. Write your message in the text box — be clear and specific
  7. Click "Send" when you're ready
  8. You'll receive a reply in 1-3 business days (check back or get email notification)
💡 Tip: Secure messages are great for non-urgent questions. For emergencies, call 911 or go to the ER. For urgent (but not emergency) issues, call your VA clinic directly.

💊 How to Refill Prescriptions

🔄 Step-by-Step: Refilling Medications

  1. Log in to MyHealtheVet
  2. Click "Pharmacy" or "Medications"
  3. Find the medication you need to refill
  4. Click "Refill" next to the medication
  5. Confirm your shipping address
  6. Click "Submit" to complete

📦 Prescription Status Meanings:

  • ✓ Active — Can be refilled
  • ⏳ In Process — Being prepared
  • 📬 Shipped — On the way
  • ✕ Expired — Need new prescription

Note: Allow 7-10 days for delivery. Refill when you have about 10 days of medication left.
