How this lesson runs

You project the deck and the class does each step together, one or two clicks per slide. Every step slide names the program in its top corner, gives the clicks, and says what learners should see. The worksheet repeats every step with a check box, so anyone who falls behind can catch up, and adds an If you get stuck box for each part. Wait for every screen to match before moving on.

Each part opens with a slide naming the program, then why it matters, short video clips where the video covers the topic, the steps and check questions. Week 5 teaches only the three skills on the post-test (items 18 to 20): meaning without color, securing a new account, and checking a suspicious contact a safer way. Every step is one or two actions with what you should see. The video chapters on comfort and workstation setup, camera and microphone permissions, encryption, unknown USB drives and harmful posts are not played. The skills challenge is cut and the post-test is in Week 6. There is no break and no timer. Minutes below are a guide for pacing, not a clock for learners.

Video clips

The full video is not played. Each Watch slide plays only its own clip, with captions, and stops by itself:

Quick card

Color a cell
Select the cells › Home tab › small arrow next to Fill Color › click a color.
Do not rely on color
Add words next to the color, such as Complete and Not yet. On a chart, add labels or patterns.
Save in Documents
File › Save As › Browse › Documents › click in File name, press Ctrl+A, type the name › Save.
A strong password
Long (four words in a row) and used on one site only.
Two-step verification
After your password, the site sends a code to your phone. Type it. Never read it to a caller.
Spot the pressure
Words like act now, stops today, within 1 hour. Slow down.
Check a link
Point at it without clicking. Read the address at the bottom left of Edge.
Check a safer way
Use a number or website you already had: a letter, a card or a saved bookmark. Not the message’s.

Week-specific preparation

Each station: Microsoft Edge and Microsoft Excel that opens without a sign-in. No email or other account is needed: the practice sign-up page (activities/practice-signup.html) and Practice Mail (activities/practice-mail.html?inbox=week-5) work in Edge on every computer, accept only addresses that end in example.com, and keep nothing a learner types. Before class, check that Excel can save to Documents on This PC (not only OneDrive), and that both practice pages open from the Week 5 worksheet. Check sound on the projector: play the first Watch slide. Print the worksheet if you can: the letter in Part 3 is meant to be on paper, and the My result page is the written evidence. After your own run-through, delete Sign-in sheet and select Start fresh on this computer at each station.
